CONVERSE, Texas - A Converse Police K-9 team helped locate and apprehend a suspect wanted for aggravated assault during an early-morning search Sunday in Bexar County.
According to the Converse Police Department, Officer White and K-9 Fury, along with Officer Blanscett, responded at approximately 3:58 a.m. on May 31 to the 8400 block of Greenham to assist the Bexar County Sheriff's Office in locating a wanted suspect.
Authorities said the suspect had fled the area and was believed to be hiding nearby.
Following an extensive search, K-9 Fury successfully tracked the suspect's path and led officers to a nearby residence where the individual had allegedly climbed over a fence and concealed himself in a backyard.
Police said the suspect surrendered without incident and was taken into custody safely.
The department noted that Officer White and K-9 Fury have only been working together for three months. Despite being a relatively new K-9 team, officials said this marks their second criminal apprehension in the past week.
Converse police praised the efforts of Officer White, K-9 Fury, and Officer Blanscett, citing their teamwork, training, and commitment to public safety.
“This apprehension is particularly noteworthy as Officer White and K9 Fury have been deployed as a team for only three months,” the department said. “Despite being early in their K9 careers, this marks their second criminal apprehension this week.”
