Woman in Mental Health Crisis Detained After Reports of Gunfire in Fredericksburg


FREDERICKSBURG, Texas - A woman experiencing a mental health crisis was safely detained Tuesday night after reports of gunfire in a Fredericksburg neighborhood, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.

Officers responded at approximately 10 p.m. on July 21 to the 700 block of South Creek after receiving multiple reports of gunshots.

Police quickly located the individual involved and determined she was experiencing a mental health crisis. Officers safely detained her without further incident and connected her with appropriate mental health services.

During the investigation, officers determined the shots had been fired into the air.

Authorities said no one was injured, and no property damage was reported.

Police described the incident as isolated and said there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The Fredericksburg Police Department thanked residents who promptly reported the incident, noting that their quick calls allowed officers to respond safely and efficiently.
