Man Arrested After String of Burglaries and Foot Chase in West Bexar County

Emiliano De La Garza

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - A man is in custody after deputies say he burglarized multiple residences in West San Antonio and attempted to flee on foot Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded around 4 p.m. on Feb. 2, 2026, to a reported burglary in the 14000 block of Guadalupe Pass in the Alamo Ranch area. Witnesses reported seeing a man jumping fences between homes. One witness said the suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Emiliano De La Garza, left a tote bag at one location and was later seen jumping a fence while carrying an item he did not previously have.

Deputies canvassed the neighborhood and confirmed a burglary at a residence in the 14000 block of Guadalupe Pass. Homeowners reported items inside the home had been disturbed and that a tablet and jewelry were missing. Investigators later determined De La Garza was in possession of the stolen tablet.

When a deputy made contact with De La Garza, he was carrying a bag that contained stolen property. Authorities said he pulled away when told he was being detained, jumped a fence, and fled on foot. Additional deputies responded to assist in the search, and De La Garza was eventually apprehended near the intersection of Galm Road and Nueces Path.

Investigators later learned that a bicycle had also been stolen from outside another residence several streets away. The homeowner reported the bicycle had been leaning against the garage. Surveillance video showed De La Garza approaching the bicycle, putting on a helmet, and riding away. Deputies also found a stolen package belonging to another resident inside De La Garza’s bag.

De La Garza was charged with burglary of a habitation, evading arrest or detention on foot, theft of mail, and theft of property. He was booked into the Bexar County Jail, where he is being held on a combined bond of $60,000.
