UVALDE, TX – A juvenile boy was seriously injured Wednesday evening after being struck by gunfire in a drive-by shooting on South High Street.
Around 6:30 p.m. on September 17, 2025, Uvalde Police officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 800 block of South High Street. They discovered a teenage victim who had been shot while riding a scooter along the roadway. Relatives transported him from the scene, and he was later flown to a San Antonio hospital. His injuries were described as serious.
Detectives with the Uvalde Police Criminal Investigations Division (CID) and the department’s Street Crimes Unit quickly launched an investigation with support from multiple partner agencies. Evidence was recovered at the scene, and within an hour, investigators had developed leads on individuals connected to the shooting.
Working with the Texas Rangers, DPS Criminal Investigations Division, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), DPS Highway Patrol, Uvalde County Constables, the Uvalde County Sheriff’s Office, and the 38th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, law enforcement obtained arrest and search warrants for the suspected shooter.
The following afternoon, on September 18 at about 2:50 p.m., Uvalde Police detectives—assisted by DPS Special Operations Group, DPS Air Operations, U.S. Border Patrol BORTAC, and other partners—executed the warrants in the 800 block of Wilson Street. A 17-year-old male suspect was taken into custody without incident. A firearm and additional evidence linked to other potential crimes were also recovered.
Assistant Chief Mike Davis praised the swift action:

Every resident of Uvalde deserves to feel safe in their home and neighborhood.”
The investigation remains active, and additional charges are expected.
