On Friday, October 6, 2023, at approximately 3:34 PM, officers from the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to multiple calls reporting a shooting in the 10100 block of Middle Fiskville Road. Upon arrival, they found Curtis Caldwell, 32, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS) arrived at the scene and transported Caldwell to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, Caldwell was pronounced deceased at 4:11 PM by Dr. Cardenas.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists were called to the location to investigate the incident. Preliminary findings indicate that Caldwell had attacked a man he knew, who then defended himself by firing the fatal shot. As of now, no charges have been filed related to the incident.
