SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A high-speed pursuit on San Antonio’s West Side ended with a suspect in custody and a loaded firearm recovered, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
On March 10, 2026, a Bexar County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to stop a red Dodge Challenger for reckless driving near the 7500 block of Marbach Road.
Authorities say the driver, identified as 37-year-old Anthony Lee Villarreal, refused to stop and led deputies on a pursuit that continued until the vehicle came to a stop near Pleasure Park Road.
When the vehicle stopped, Villarreal jumped out and attempted to flee on foot.
During the short foot chase, deputies observed Villarreal pull a handgun from his waistband and discard it before being quickly taken into custody without further incident.
Deputies recovered the weapon, identified as a loaded Bond Arms .357 caliber revolver.
A records check revealed Villarreal had an active warrant for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Investigators said Villarreal later admitted he fled because of the outstanding warrant.
Villarreal was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on the warrant, along with additional charges of:
Evading Arrest with a Vehicle
Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
Evading Arrest on Foot
His total bond was set at $60,000, according to authorities.
