LA PRYOR, Texas — A high-speed pursuit involving a stolen vehicle ended in a crash and arrest Saturday afternoon, with help from local residents, according to authorities.
On April 4, 2026, at approximately 2:10 p.m., Zavala County Deputy Arredondo spotted a silver GMC Sierra at a Valero in La Pryor that had been reported stolen out of Uvalde. After observing multiple traffic violations, the deputy attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop, initiating a pursuit through city streets.
The chase ended at the intersection of Madison Street and North Quijano Avenue when the suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a fire hydrant and a residential fence.
Both occupants fled the scene on foot, but with assistance from nearby citizens, deputies were able to locate the suspects hiding inside a vehicle at a nearby residence.
The driver was identified as Nicholas Eugene Bozzano, who was taken into custody. A female passenger, identified as a juvenile, was also detained and later released to her parents.
Both individuals were transported to Uvalde Memorial Hospital for medical clearance. Bozzano was subsequently booked into the Zavala County Jail.
He is facing charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest with a vehicle, and evading arrest on foot.
The Zavala County Sheriff's Office thanked members of the community for their assistance in safely resolving the incident.
