High-Speed Chase Ends with Arrest After Stolen Vehicle Fleeing Karnes County Traffic Stop

On November 19, 2025, at approximately 2:36 p.m., a Karnes County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) Traffic Unit Deputy attempted to stop a stolen vehicle near the intersection of SH 80 and FM 792. The vehicle fled at speeds exceeding 100 mph, prompting a pursuit that spanned several miles.

The chase concluded near the 1000 block of FM 1354 in the Helena/Karnes County area, when a Canine Investigator from the local District Attorney’s Office successfully performed a pursuit intervention technique (PIT) to stop the vehicle. The suspect resisted arrest and had to be forcibly removed from the car before being taken into custody.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect was linked to a recent residential burglary in the Helena area. The suspect, who will remain unidentified until formal magistration, was booked into the KCSO Jail on the following charges:

  • Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle

  • Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle

  • Resisting Arrest, Search, or Detention

Additional charges may be filed pending the ongoing investigation.

During the arrest, one KCSO Deputy sustained a non-incapacitating injury while subduing the suspect. The deputy was treated at a local hospital and released.

Sheriff Bailey commended the collaborative effort of multiple law enforcement agencies, including the 81st Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Karnes County Constables, Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol, and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Warden, whose assistance was crucial in ending the pursuit and safely apprehending the suspect.
