Cody Canion, 47, has been sentenced to five years in prison following the revocation of his probation for Assault on a Peace Officer.
On August 7, 2025, Judge Russell Wilson of the 81st/218th District Court granted the State’s motion to revoke Canion’s probation after finding he violated the terms of his supervision. The sentence is effective immediately, with Canion to serve time in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Institutional Division.
The original offense occurred on February 11, 2020, when Canion assaulted a LaSalle County Sheriff’s Deputy who was assisting EMS in providing medical treatment to Canion’s mother. Canion was placed on deferred adjudication probation on October 15, 2020, as an opportunity for rehabilitation.
The motion to revoke probation was filed after Canion was alleged to have assaulted another family member and failed to complete an outpatient drug treatment program. The court found sufficient evidence that he violated probation conditions.
Authorities emphasize the seriousness of assaulting law enforcement officers and the importance of holding offenders accountable during probation.
