Miguel Dominguez Escobar, 22, a U.S. citizen from Las Cruces, New Mexico, was sentenced on August 7, 2025, to 50 years in prison and fined $10,000 following a plea agreement. He pleaded guilty to Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, a first-degree felony, for knowingly possessing with intent to deliver more than 400 grams of methamphetamine.
The case originated from a traffic stop on August 25, 2024, conducted by the Kendall County Sheriff's Office. During the stop, K-9 Deputy Corporal Boerner deployed K9 Luna for an open-air sniff, leading to the discovery of contraband. Officers from Kendall County Deputies, Texas Department of Public Safety, Kerr County Sheriff's Office, and Boerne Police Department uncovered 74 sealed packages, or "bricks," containing approximately 131 pounds of methamphetamine in a hidden compartment.
The investigation was led by the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from Kerr County Sheriff's Office, Boerne Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). The case was prosecuted by Assistant Criminal District Attorney Derly Chapa.
