SAPD Seeks Public's Help in Identifying Murder Suspect from Soccer Game Shooting

Suspect in murder case

The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) is appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the suspect involved in a fatal shooting that occurred during a soccer game on Roland Avenue. The incident, which took place on June 2, 2023, resulted in the tragic death of a victim following an argument between players and spectators.

In response to a distress call reporting a shooting in progress, SAPD officers rushed to the 3600 block of Roland Avenue, only to find a crowd of approximately 100 spectators gathered to watch the soccer match. The first responders from both SAPD and the San Antonio Fire Department (SAFD) quickly located a victim who had sustained a gunshot wound.

The injured individual was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, but despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries, transforming the incident into a homicide case. SAPD Homicide Detectives have taken over the investigation and are actively seeking any information that may lead to the identification and apprehension of the suspect.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the shooting arose from a heated argument between players and spectators, although the exact cause remains under investigation. The SAPD is urging anyone who was present at the soccer game or has any knowledge related to the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
