Pearsall Man Sentenced to 24 Years for Fentanyl Distribution

Elberto Roy Trevino

In a federal court in San Antonio, Elberto Roy Trevino Jr., known as Lil Roy, received a 24-year prison sentence for felon in possession of a firearm and conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl. Court documents revealed Trevino's involvement in a July 2022 scheme to distribute fentanyl, where an individual who believed they were buying cocaine died later that day. Substances recovered from the scene tested positive for fentanyl and cocaine.

On the same day, two more individuals were found dead in their Pearsall residence, with substances recovered also testing positive for fentanyl. A subsequent search of Trevino’s residence yielded methamphetamine, a mixture of heroin and fentanyl, stolen firearms, and ammunition.

Trevino pleaded guilty in August 2023 and was sentenced to concurrent terms of 120 and 292 months for the firearm and conspiracy charges, respectively. U.S. Attorney Jaime Esparza emphasized the danger of fentanyl and vowed continued efforts to combat its presence in communities. Special Agent in Charge Daniel C. Comeaux highlighted the severity of the fentanyl threat and expressed hope that Trevino's sentence would deter others from similar activities.

The investigation involved the DEA, Pearsall Police Department, and Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
