The City of Fredericksburg Development Services Department is excited to unveil the MyGovernmentOnline (MGO) solution tailored to meet the requirements of short-term rental (STR) owners and operators. Scheduled to go live on January 1, 2024, this online service is set to replace the existing STR software.
The MGO solution has been designed to streamline and enhance the permitting process for short-term rentals. Users will have access to a range of online services, including the submission of new applications, renewals, and owner transfers. The introduction of this user-friendly platform aims to simplify procedures for STR owners and operators, offering a more efficient and convenient experience.
At this time, Hotel Occupancy Taxes (HOT) must still be remitted through the City office and cannot be remitted online. The HOT Remittance Form and instructions on remitting taxes due can be found on the City’s website at https://www.fbgtx.org/487/Hotel-Occupancy-Taxes.
To access the MGO solution, STR owners and operators should visit https://www.mgoconnect.org/cp/portal to create a new account. Step-by-step instructions for creating a new account are available on the City’s website at https://www.fbgtx.org/845/Short-Term-Rentals. Once a new account is created, existing STR permit data should be linked to the address of the account. Contact Jan Musgrove, STR Specialist, via email at jmusgrove@fbgtx.org, if experiencing difficulties creating an account.
In addition to the new MGO solution, the updated STR Ordinance and STR fees will also be effective January 1, 2024. The recently amended STR Ordinance and updated fee schedule can be found at https://www.fbgtx.org/845/Short-Term-Rentals.
For questions regarding the new MGO solution, STR Ordinance, or STR fees, please contact Jan Musgrove, STR Specialist, jmusgrove@fbgtx.org. For questions regarding HOT remittance, contact Darren Eckhardt at deckhardt@fbgtx.org.
