Uvalde Police Recognize Officers' Dedication and Success in Recent Arrests

The Uvalde Police Department commends the hard work and dedication of its officers in ensuring the safety and security of the community.

On Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at approximately 12:12 A.M., the Uvalde Police Department conducted a routine traffic stop on the 400 block of West Main St. During the stop, further investigation led to the arrest of 24-year-old Samantha Nicole Sandoval. She was charged with Possession of a controlled substance PG1/1-B<1G, a State Jail Felony.

Later that day, at approximately 8:28 A.M., another traffic stop was conducted on the 1200 block of Laredo Street. The investigation revealed that 31-year-old Bernardo Jose Cadena Areas was transporting an undocumented person. He was subsequently arrested for smuggling of persons, classified as a Third Degree Felony.

Both individuals, Sandoval and Cadena-Areas, were transported to the Uvalde County Justice Center, where they were confined to jail. The undocumented person was turned over to the United States Border Patrol for further processing.
