Shavano Park Police recently disclosed some incidents from their calls for service during December 2023. Here are the highlights:
1. Warrant Arrest - December 7th: On Thursday morning at around 10:30 a.m., criminal investigations coordinated to meet a fraud suspect at city hall. The suspect was allegedly involved in multiple cases of Credit/Debit Card Abuse with an Elderly Enhancement from a local assisted living facility. With three felony warrants, the suspect was taken into custody upon arrival and transported to the Bexar County Detention Center.
2. Theft of Mail - December 9th: On Saturday morning at approximately 9:00 a.m., an officer responded to a report of stolen mail in the 300 block of Cinnamon Oak. The complainant discovered community mailboxes open with mail scattered on the ground, including a missing package. The case was referred to criminal investigations for further action.
3. Vehicle Theft - December 14th: On Thursday morning around 2:30 a.m., an officer was dispatched to a business in the 4000 block of DeZavala Road for a vehicle theft report. The complainant, who had arrived for work, found their vehicle missing. Subsequent investigations revealed that the San Antonio Police Department recovered the stolen vehicle abandoned at a Medical Center apartment complex later the same day.
4. DWI/Unlawful Carrying Weapons - December 14th: On Thursday evening at approximately 8:30 p.m., an officer responded to a report of a reckless driver in the 15400 block of NW Military Highway. After observing traffic violations, the officer conducted a traffic stop, during which the driver displayed signs of intoxication. Upon arrest, a firearm was found tucked into their waistband. The driver was taken to the Bexar County Detention Center, a warrant was granted, and a blood specimen was taken.
5. DWI - December 24th: On Sunday evening at around 9:00 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle traveling inappropriately along the 15000 block of NW Military Highway. The driver, displaying signs of intoxication, granted consent for a blood search. Subsequently, the driver was transported to the Bexar County Detention Center, where a blood specimen was taken and booked on criminal charges.
