On December 22, 2023, at 2:25 pm, Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a man-down call in the 3700 Block of Devon Street in rural Mercedes, Texas.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 38-year-old male with a gunshot wound, a consequence of a domestic dispute. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The suspect, a 14-year-old stepson of the victim, has been detained. An ongoing investigation is being conducted by authorities.
