The Seguin Police Department is pleased to announce the recipients of its Annual 2023 Employee Awards, recognizing outstanding contributions and achievements within the department.
Officer Willie Ybarra has been named Officer of the Year. Sgt. Albert Sanchez has earned the title of Supervisor of the Year.
Officer William Collier, a newcomer to the force, has been awarded Rookie of the Year, acknowledging outstanding performance and dedication during the initial stages of his career. Jessica Schaffer is honored as Civilian of the Year, recognizing her significant contributions to the department's success in a non-sworn capacity.
Officer Yesenia Ballard has been recognized as the DWI Enforcement Officer of the Year, a distinction awarded to the SPD officer with the highest number of DWI arrests.
The Officer of the Year and Civilian of the Year are selected from quarterly award winners, while Rookie of the Year and Supervisor of the Year are nominated by peers. All award winners are determined through a department-wide vote, fostering a sense of community and inclusivity in the recognition process. The DWI Enforcement Officer of the Year is awarded based on the officer's notable efforts in addressing and preventing DWI offenses within the community.
