On December 9, 2023, Kerr County Sheriff Deputies arrested two individuals for smuggling two undocumented and illegal immigrants into the country. The suspects, identified as Kelvin Fuentes-Aguilar and Octaviano Ramirez-Garcia, both residents of Katy, are facing two charges each of smuggling of persons for pecuniary benefit, along with one charge of immigration violation.
The two undocumented individuals, Uriel Garcia and Erika Herrera, who were smuggled into the country, were also detained. Subsequently, Garcia and Herrera were later released into the custody of the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS).
