Seguin Police Arrest Suspect After Standoff on Elm St, Nearby School Implemented Secure Protocols

On the afternoon of December 7, 2023, the Seguin Police Department Criminal Investigation Division executed a warrant service in the 1000 block of Elm St for 48-year-old Kewannee Wilson, a Seguin resident, in connection with a felony burglary warrant.

Upon arrival, Wilson spotted an Investigator accompanied by a uniformed Officer approaching. In response, he fled into the residence and barricaded himself in a room. Officers were informed that the room contained multiple firearms, and at various times, they heard Wilson manipulating a firearm inside.

Despite officers' directives to vacate the room, Wilson declined and eventually ceased communication.

Seguin PD requested Weinert Elementary and Seguin High School to be placed in a secured lockdown for the safety of staff and students due to police activity in the area. Later, they posted that there was no direct threat made to the school.

The Seguin Police Department successfully apprehended Wilson without further incident. He was transported and booked into Guadalupe County on charges of Burglary of a Motor Vehicle with 2 or more previous convictions, a State Jail Felony.
