The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is currently conducting an investigation into a tragic motorcycle crash that transpired at approximately 8:20 a.m. on Sunday.

DPS troopers arrived at the scene, located on Business 83 west of Bass Boulevard in Harlingen.

According to the initial findings from the preliminary investigation, a 2006 Honda tri-motorcycle was heading eastbound on Business 83 when, for reasons yet to be determined, the operator of the motorcycle suddenly veered into a business parking lot. Continuing in a straight path, the motorcycle collided with a tree.

The operator of the motorcycle, 83-year-old Loyal Clark Temple from La Feria, tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene, as outlined in the news release.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
