Hays CISD and the Kyle Police Department are actively addressing a concerning situation involving threats circulating on social media.

Hays CISD became aware of a screenshot depicting a threat, or a potential threat hoax, today. The Austin Regional Intelligence Center (ARIC) alerted Hays CISD to the situation. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the threat was circulating on a regional and statewide level and was not specifically targeting any Hays CISD schools. State law enforcement agencies have initiated an investigation into the matter.

As a precautionary measure, the Kyle Police Department will increase their presence at Hays CISD campuses for the remainder of the day.

UPDATE: A second screenshot threat has emerged, possibly in response to the earlier message. This time, the threat explicitly mentions "Hays." Hays CISD is taking immediate steps to ensure the safety of all campuses, and law enforcement is investigating this new threat as well.

Both the Kyle Police Department and Hays CISD take all threats seriously, regardless of the likelihood of them materializing. The increased police presence at Hays CISD campuses will continue throughout the day as the situation unfolds.
