Governor Greg Abbott, in collaboration with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Texas National Guard, remains committed to securing the state's border and preventing transnational criminal activities. The joint effort, known as Operation Lone Star, has made substantial progress in curbing illegal immigration and countering criminal elements.

Since the launch of Operation Lone Star, the collective efforts of law enforcement agencies have resulted in the apprehension of over 476,200 illegal immigrants and more than 35,100 criminal arrests. Among these arrests, over 32,000 felony charges have been reported, highlighting the intensive crackdown on criminal activities.

One significant aspect of the operation involves combating the fentanyl crisis. Texas law enforcement has successfully seized over 432 million lethal doses of fentanyl during this mission, contributing significantly to the fight against drug-related offenses.

In addition to these accomplishments, Operation Lone Star has undertaken substantial efforts to relocate migrants. Since April 2022, more than 12,500 migrants have been bused to Washington, D.C., with over 20,000 migrants transported to New York City since August 2022. Chicago has received over 15,000 migrants since the same period, while Philadelphia has seen more than 3,200 migrants arriving since November 2022. Denver and Los Angeles have also accommodated migrants, with over 3,900 migrants sent to Denver since May 18, and more than 980 migrants transported to Los Angeles since June 14.

Operation Lone Star continues to address critical gaps resulting from border security challenges. Authorities emphasize that the initiative is essential in preventing the influx of illegal immigrants, drugs, weapons, and criminal elements into Texas and other parts of the nation. The efforts undertaken by state and national agencies are seen as crucial in countering the impact of open border policies, which have faced criticism from officials concerned about public safety and national security.
