On Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at approximately 2:34 a.m., a routine traffic stop conducted by a Gillespie County Sheriff Deputy in the 1600 block of South Ranch Road 1623 in Fredericksburg led to the arrest of three individuals on various charges.
The deputy initiated the stop due to an equipment violation and approached the vehicle, finding a male driver and male and female passengers inside. Upon running a check, it was discovered that the driver, a 51-year-old resident of Comfort, TX, had an outstanding warrant from San Saba County. The driver was promptly arrested.
Upon the arrival of assisting deputies, it was revealed that the male passenger had provided a false name to the initial deputy. Subsequent checks confirmed outstanding warrants for DWI and Failure to Appear for the 45-year-old resident of Fredericksburg. He was arrested on the spot.
During a probable cause search of the vehicle, deputies found an open alcohol container. Further inspection led to the discovery of a handgun in the male passenger's jacket, a glass methamphetamine pipe concealed within food in a Styrofoam container, a small plastic baggie containing cocaine in the female passenger’s backpack, and two glass vials containing methamphetamine hidden in the seat.
The 29-year-old female passenger, a resident of Blanco, TX, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1/1-B (cocaine) and Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1/1-B (methamphetamine), both weighing between 1 and 4 grams.
Additionally, the driver was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1/1-B (methamphetamine) for substances found in the vehicle.
The male passenger faced multiple charges, including Fail to Identify Fugitive from Justice, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1/1-B (methamphetamine) for the substances found during the search.
