San Antonio Police Officers Fatally Shoot Suspect in Aggravated Robbery Case; Body-Worn Camera Footage Released

In an incident on September 4, 2023, San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) officers shot and killed 27-year-old Jacob String, a suspect wanted on four warrants for Aggravated Robbery, in the 100 block of Prestwick. The officers, part of the SAPD Covert Response Unit, had received information about String's whereabouts and proceeded to the rear of an apartment complex to apprehend him.

Upon arrival, one officer encountered String, who was walking away with his left hand inside his pocket. The officer instructed String to show his hands, at which point String revealed a cell phone from his pocket. However, String continued to reach into his front pockets while moving away from the officers. One officer deployed a Taser, causing String to fall forward. During the fall, String rotated his body and pointed a firearm at both officers.

In response to the imminent threat, both officers discharged their firearms, striking String. String was pronounced dead at the scene.

The SAPD has released video footage of the incident to the public.
