The Boerne Independent School District (Boerne ISD) Board of Trustees has approved a budget that will result in a reduction in the district's property tax rate for the fifth consecutive year. The new tax rate for the 2023-24 fiscal year will decrease by 18.5 cents per $100 valuation, dropping from $1.1786 to $0.9932.
This tax rate adjustment is expected to have a significant impact on the wallets of local taxpayers, with the average taxpayer estimated to save nearly $900 on their property taxes in 2024.
Carlin Friar, President of the Boerne ISD Board of Trustees, expressed the board's commitment to balancing the needs of students with responsible financial management. Friar stated, "We pride ourselves on being advocates for the needs of our students while also being good stewards of taxpayer dollars. The Board of Trustees is very proud to lower the tax rate for the fifth year in a row, this time by almost 19 cents. We have always been fiscally conservative and respect the taxpayers' best interest. The fact that the average taxpayer will save nearly $900 in property taxes means a lot to us and is a win for everyone in our community. We appreciate the tremendous support that we have received from our community."
This reduction marks a cumulative decrease of 36 cents in the district's tax rate since 2018. Boerne ISD's tax rate now stands as one of the lowest school tax rates in the area, reinforcing the district's commitment to providing quality education while minimizing the financial burden on its residents.
