The Bexar County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) has released body-worn camera footage of an officer-involved shooting that occurred on August 19 at approximately 12:50 a.m. in the 7000 block of Bronzerock Drive. The incident involved 32-year-old Terrance Michael Duckworth and BCSO Deputies Jeffrey Suarez and Laura Mendez.
The video footage made available to the public includes a 911 call placed to the Sheriff’s Office, as well as video footage captured by BCSO patrol deputies. Additionally, dash camera footage documents the ensuing pursuit and ultimately, the shooting of Terrance Michael Duckworth.

Deputy Jeffrey Suarez, 33, a ten-year veteran of the BCSO with a date of hire on April 29, 2013, was one of the deputies involved in the incident. Deputy Laura Mendez, 30, who has served with the BCSO for nine years since her date of hire on September 8, 2014, was the other deputy involved.
The incident unfolded after the BCSO Gang Unit began following the suspect, Terrance Michael Duckworth, who had left the Time Out Sports Bar. The gang unit attempted to initiate a traffic stop on Duckworth, but he refused to stop his vehicle.
A pursuit ensued as Duckworth attempted to flee. At some point during the pursuit, Duckworth abandoned his vehicle on foot and was subsequently shot in the lower body by deputies. After the shooting, Duckworth was transported to a hospital for treatment.
The release of the body-worn camera footage is part of the ongoing investigation into the incident. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office aims to provide transparency in this matter while respecting the sensitivities of the content.
