On September 14, 2023, law enforcement officials from the San Antonio Police Department Human Exploitation Unit, in collaboration with the SAPD South SAFFE division, apprehended a 56-year-old individual named Jose Espinoza. The arrest followed allegations that the suspect had surreptitiously placed a mobile phone inside a household restroom, thereby recording intimate moments involving immediate family members. Multiple individuals fell victim to this intrusive act, with at least one of them being a minor. According to SAPD, the unauthorized recording persisted for several hours, violating the privacy of three immediate family members, one of whom was a 15-year-old.

Promptly following the incident, authorities secured the mobile phone in question and uncovered evidence supporting the claims of privacy invasion. As a result of their investigation, SAPD Detectives were able to procure a warrant for Invasive Video Recording, a charge classified as a state jail felony. The arrest of the suspect transpired without any significant confrontation or resistance.
