Bandera Middle School's volleyball teams were in action recently, and here are the results from their matches:
8th Grade A Team: On Monday, September 11th, the 8th Grade A Team traveled to Uvalde for an exciting matchup. In a thrilling contest, the Lady Bulldogs faced some tough serves early on, allowing the Lady Lobos to gain an early advantage. The first game ended with a score of 17-25 in favor of Uvalde. However, the Lady Bulldogs fought back, winning the second set with a score of 25-23. The intensity continued into the third set, where the Bandera girls emerged victorious with a score of 15-12. Despite last-minute lineup changes, the team showcased their mental toughness and adaptability. Serving aces were recorded by Addison Ashcraft (5), Pyper Barnard (2), Briley Clark (2), Mckenna Jones (3), Haily Livingston (3), and Isabella Pace (1). Other stats included digs, kills, assists, and blocks. The Lady Bulldogs are gearing up to face the Carrizo Springs Lady Wildcats on Wednesday, September 20th.
8th Grade B Team: In a thrilling match on September 12th, the 8th Grade B Team displayed their fighting spirit, even though they ultimately fell short in a three-set showdown. Olivia Walker and Leighann Spangler led the charge with impressive serving aces in the first set, creating an electrifying atmosphere in the gym. The opposing team managed to regroup and secure the next two sets, but the Bandera B Team showcased their resilience and potential, making it a memorable game.
7th Grade A Team: The 7th Grade A Team faced a tough challenge against the Uvalde Lobos, battling it out in three sets with scores of 14-25, 25-23, and 15-17. Although they had a slow start, the Bandera girls fought back in the second set, giving them a chance to win in the third. Notable performances included strong digs from Brylyn Thornburgh (6), Brooke Montelongo (5), and Elle Vander Zee (5). The hitting game improved, with kills from Brooke Montelongo (5), Gracen Spruell (2), and Rehnahta Gomez (1). Serving aces were delivered by Elle Vander Zee (1), Brylyn Thornburgh (1), and Brooke Montelongo (2), showing positive progress for the team's development.
7th Grade B Team: The 7th Grade B Team continued their winning streak with a 3-0 victory over Uvalde on September 11th. The game saw the Lady Bulldogs winning the first set 25-22, losing the second 16-25, and securing the final set at 15-10. Brylee Phillips led the serving charge with 7 aces, while Mackenzie Clay contributed with 5. Cealy Billings and Maikenna Ybarra each recorded a kill. The team displayed improved passing skills from Khloe Martinez and Ava Thompson. The confident team looks forward to their next home game against Carrizo Springs.
