A woman is currently facing assault charges following a series of events that unfolded on the East Side. According to San Antonio police, the 41-year-old woman is accused of hitting a man with her car whom she had confronted for allegedly entering her home without permission.
The incident, which occurred in the early morning hours on Tuesday, began when the woman alerted the authorities to a break-in at her residence on the 4700 block of Dietrich Road around 7 a.m. She reported that her keys had been stolen and surveillance footage revealed that an unknown man had entered her home while she was at work.
Attempting to prevent the man from leaving the vicinity, the woman recounted to police that she inadvertently struck him with her vehicle close to the intersection of Lula Mae Drive and Colzona Road. The impact resulted in the man, aged 27, sustaining a leg injury that required medical attention. Emergency Medical Services swiftly transported him to a local hospital for treatment.
Subsequent investigations by the authorities uncovered that the injured man had two active felony warrants against him. He was taken into custody on the basis of these warrants and also emerged as a suspect in the burglary at the woman's residence. Although both individuals involved have not been identified by the police, the investigation remains ongoing, as stated in a preliminary report.
The 41-year-old woman has been booked on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon due to the incident. The man, in addition to receiving medical care, faces legal proceedings stemming from his active felony warrants. The circumstances surrounding the case continue to be examined by law enforcement officials.
