Detectives from the San Antonio Police Department's (SAPD) Human Exploitation Unit have successfully apprehended a suspect involved in an online solicitation of a minor case. The operation, which unfolded on August 17th, 2023, exposed a disturbing pattern of behavior involving a suspect identified as 37-year-old Manuel Sanchez.
Sanchez was the focus of the investigation, during which he engaged in a sexually explicit conversation with an individual he believed to be a 14-year-old child. This alarming discovery led to further inquiries, uncovering another case where Sanchez had participated in a similar inappropriate exchange with an individual posing as an underage child.
The diligent efforts of the Human Exploitation Detectives culminated in the issuance of two Online Solicitation of a Minor warrants against Mr. Sanchez. With the warrants secured, the SAPD's Covert Unit smoothly executed his arrest without incident.
According to the arrest report, Sanchez utilized Mocospace, a popular social media platform, as the backdrop for his illicit activities. The report states that he initiated contact with what he believed was a 15-year-old girl. The conversation progressed as the two exchanged messages and subsequently shared phone numbers for continued communication.
Disturbingly, during the conversation, an undercover police officer posing as the minor informed Sanchez of their age, stating they were 15. Instead of responding appropriately, Sanchez opted for a sexual reference. Notably, Sanchez claimed he was merely 30 years old. Shockingly, the exchange escalated further as he sent sexually explicit photographs to the individual he believed to be a 15-year-old girl. His audacity reached a disturbing climax as he proposed the idea of meeting up for a sexual encounter.
This arrest was not Sanchez's first brush with the law for such heinous actions. Records indicate that he had previously been taken into custody on December 9, 2022, for the same offense of attempting to establish inappropriate connections with underage girls through social media.
