BANDERA COUNTY, Texas - The Bandera County Sheriff's Office is urging residents to rely on official sources for flood information after reports circulating on social media suggested emergency rescues were needed throughout the county.
According to the sheriff's office, officials have spoken with the United Cajun Navy regarding the online reports and said Bandera County is not currently experiencing widespread rescue needs.
Authorities asked the public to use good judgment and avoid sharing unverified information that could create confusion during ongoing severe weather.
The sheriff's office also reminded residents not to underestimate the dangers posed by fast-moving floodwaters.
Officials urged motorists to avoid driving through flooded roadways, stay away from creeks and low-water crossings, and limit travel unless it is absolutely necessary.
