GUADALUPE COUNTY, Texas — A traffic stop on Interstate 35 led to the seizure of more than one kilogram of heroin and cocaine and the arrest of a San Antonio man, according to the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office.
The arrest occurred Sunday, June 28, when a Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office K-9 deputy was conducting traffic enforcement on southbound Interstate 35 in the 17000 block.
Deputies stopped a silver Toyota Corolla for a traffic violation.
During the stop, the deputy deployed his K-9 partner, which alerted to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle.
A subsequent search uncovered approximately 756 grams of heroin and 258 grams of cocaine.
The driver, identified as Roger Vincent Tafolla Jr. of San Antonio, was arrested and booked into the Guadalupe County Adult Detention Center.
He is charged with Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Penalty Group 1) 400 grams or more and Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Penalty Group 1) between 200 and 400 grams.
Investigators also determined Tafolla was on active federal probation for prior narcotics offenses.
The Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office said the seizure removed a significant quantity of dangerous drugs from area roadways and credited the agency's K-9 Unit for its work.
