BANDERA COUNTY, Texas — Emergency crews are conducting an active search operation after a vehicle was swept away by rapidly moving floodwaters Monday morning in Bandera County.
According to the Bandera County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred June 15, 2026, during flash flooding that impacted portions of the county.
Multiple emergency response agencies were dispatched to the area of Lower Mason Creek Road and Chipman Lane following reports that a vehicle had been carried away by floodwaters.
Personnel from the Center Point Volunteer Fire Department responded to assist with the search effort. A helicopter from the Texas Department of Public Safety has also been deployed to aid crews searching the area from the air.
Authorities have not released information regarding the number of occupants believed to have been inside the vehicle.
Officials are asking residents to stay away from the search area and avoid attempting to assist with rescue operations.
The sheriff's office said keeping roads clear is essential to ensuring emergency personnel can safely and efficiently conduct search efforts.
"We appreciate the community's willingness to help, but it is critical that first responders have unobstructed access to conduct their operations safely and efficiently," the agency said in a statement.
Residents are urged to avoid the area until authorities announce that search operations have concluded.
The incident remains under investigation, and additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
