SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A man convicted of killing a woman inside a southwest San Antonio hotel room has been sentenced to 60 years in prison.
Albert Casanova was sentenced on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, by Judge Michael Mery in the 144th District Court after a Bexar County jury found him guilty of the murder of Briann Hernandez on March 27.
According to prosecutors, Casanova and Hernandez checked into an OYO Hotel in May 2023, where they rented a room together. During their stay, Casanova shot Hernandez in the head before fleeing the scene in her vehicle.
Investigators were able to link Casanova to the crime through hotel surveillance footage and fingerprints recovered from the room, leading to his arrest.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Rosa Garcia and Maria Mancha of the Family Violence Division, with support from Victim Advocate Rebecca Garcia and Investigator Joseph Bernal.
Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales described the killing as a “calculated and senseless act of violence,” adding that the sentence ensures accountability for the victim’s death.
