Student Dead After Shooting Teacher at Comal ISD School in Bulverde

BULVERDE, Texas — A 15-year-old student is dead after opening fire inside Hill Country College Preparatory High School on Monday morning, according to the Comal County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting occurred at the campus located in the 3600 block of Mustang Vista. Authorities said the student shot a teacher during morning classes, prompting an immediate lockdown and a large law enforcement response that included sheriff’s deputies and Bulverde police officers.

Officials said the situation was quickly contained. The student later shot himself and died.

The injured teacher was transported to a San Antonio hospital and was undergoing emergency surgery. The teacher’s condition has not been released.

Students were secured as officers cleared the campus, and reunification efforts were carried out shortly afterward.

Students described a chaotic scene inside the school, reporting hearing loud bangs from a second-floor classroom, followed by multiple shots and screams as teachers rushed students to safety.

The Texas Rangers are assisting with the ongoing investigation.

Comal County Sheriff Mark Reynolds said during a news conference that the suspect’s parents arrived at Bulverde Middle School during reunification, unaware their child was involved in the shooting.

Principal Julie Wiley announced that classes will be suspended Tuesday, and counselors will be available for students and families.

“Our hearts are with everyone impacted, especially that teacher, their family, and our school community,” Wiley said. “We know this has been a difficult day. I want to personally thank our local law enforcement officers, amazing staff, and district administrators for their swift response, professionalism and care of our students.”
