DEVINE, Texas, March 11 — Firefighters from multiple Medina County stations quickly contained a commercial building fire early Wednesday morning in Devine, preventing the blaze from destroying the structure and threatening a nearby food truck.
At approximately 4:38 a.m., multiple 911 calls reported a commercial fire in the 200 block of South Teel Street. Medina County Fire and EMS B Shift crews from Stations 20, 50, 11 and the 60s were dispatched to the scene.
Engine 20 arrived within nine minutes of dispatch and found flames coming from the front of the building. Fire crews also observed a food truck nearby that was being threatened by the growing fire.
Firefighters immediately deployed an attack line and began efforts to extinguish the flames. Engine 50 from Natalia arrived about 10 minutes after Engine 20, followed shortly by crews from Engine 11 and the 60s.
Crews were able to contain the fire, preventing a total loss of the building and limiting damage to the nearby food trailer.
Officials credited the quick response and coordinated efforts of multiple stations with preventing the fire from causing more significant damage. They also noted the continued support of local Emergency Services District boards, which have prioritized maintaining around the clock staffing at regional fire stations to improve emergency response times.
