San Antonio Man Sentenced to Two Life Terms for Deadly Bar Shooting

Darrick Oliver

San Antonio, TX — A man convicted in a deadly 2022 shooting at a San Antonio-area bar has been sentenced to two life terms in prison.

Judge Ron Rangel, presiding over the 379th District Court, sentenced Darrick Oliver on Thursday, March 5, 2026, to two concurrent life sentences for the murders of Justin Huchinson and Alaina Henderson.

According to prosecutors, the shooting occurred during an evening in September 2022 at Rose Bistro, a bar in the Hollywood Park area.

Authorities said Oliver became involved in an argument with two bystanders outside the establishment. The confrontation escalated when Oliver pulled out a handgun and opened fire at close range.

Huchinson was shot in the face and died at the scene.

A second male victim was also shot in the face and hand. He was transported to a nearby hospital and survived the attack.

Henderson, who was outside the restaurant at the time, was struck by a bullet during the shooting. She had recently graduated from law school and was visiting San Antonio to celebrate a new job opportunity.

Henderson was taken to a hospital but later died from her injuries.

Prosecutors said Oliver fled the scene before officers with the Hollywood Park Police Department arrived. Investigators said he went to his girlfriend’s residence where he attempted to dispose of evidence and alter his appearance.

Oliver later fled to his grandfather’s home in Waco. Several days later, deputies with the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office located him at the residence and took him into custody. He was turned over to waiting Hollywood Park police officers and Texas Rangers.

Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Jessica Schulze and Alexis O’Connor prosecuted the case, with assistance from Victim Advocate Jacqueline Garcia and Investigator Edward Rohmer.

Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales said the sentence brings accountability for the victims.

“The defendant’s actions that night were intentional, deadly, and completely unjustified,” Gonzales said. “While no sentence can undo this loss, we hope today’s result brings a measure of justice and reinforces that violent acts like this will not be tolerated in Bexar County.”
