Texas DPS Disrupts Human Smuggling Attempt in Eagle Pass; Arrests Sex Offender and Gang Member

Joseph Hamilton

In a joint operation, Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) troopers and special agents successfully thwarted a human smuggling attempt in Eagle Pass, resulting in the arrest of two individuals, including a registered sex offender and a confirmed member of the Latin King gang. Additionally, a stash house was discovered during the operation.

According to the TxDPS, the arrest was made after they received credible information about a possible human smuggling operation in the area. Troopers and agents acted swiftly on the tip-off, leading to the apprehension of Joseph Hamilton, a Houston resident and registered sex offender, who was found to be involved in the smuggling attempt.

Further investigations led authorities to locate a stash house, which was being operated by Tyler Garza, a resident of Eagle Pass and a confirmed member of the notorious Latin King gang. The stash house was allegedly used as a hiding place for illegal immigrants awaiting transportation to other parts of the country.

During the operation, a total of seven illegal immigrants were rescued and subsequently handed over to the U.S. Border Patrol for processing and further legal actions.

Both Hamilton and Garza are currently in custody, facing charges related to human smuggling and operating a stash house. They will await trial, where they will be held accountable for their alleged involvement in these criminal activities.
