On Friday, November 28, 2025, a pursuit initiated by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) in Starr County moved north into Zapata County along U.S. Highway 83. Zapata County Sheriff’s Office deputies located the fleeing vehicle as it continued at high speed before turning onto Mesa Salinas Road.
The driver, identified as Miguel Angel Delgado Guzman, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll over. He then got out and tried to run. After ignoring commands, deputies deployed a taser, allowing them to safely take him into custody.
Inside the overturned vehicle, deputies found three undocumented individuals who suffered minor injuries. They were immediately given medical attention.
Delgado Guzman was taken to Laredo Medical Center for evaluation. After being medically cleared, he was booked into the Zapata County Regional Jail on the following charges:
