Pipe Creek, TX – A resident recently asked why the Pipe Creek Volunteer Fire Department frequently solicits donations. One clear example occurred on October 4, when firefighters were dispatched to a fully involved RV fire.
Responding with over $1,000,000 worth of fire trucks and equipment, along with a dozen volunteer firefighters, the department quickly extinguished the blaze. Their swift actions prevented the fire from spreading to nearby homes, including one where an elderly, bedridden woman lived.
The department noted that equipment, protective gear, and training for volunteers are all costly. They receive no funding from Bandera County, and rely solely on donations and grants to operate.
To support ongoing operations, the Pipe Creek VFD will hold a boot drive this weekend at the intersection of Hwy 16 and FM 1283. Funds raised will help cover fuel, electricity, equipment, and maintenance costs. Drivers are asked to watch for firefighters standing in the intersection and are thanked in advance for their contributions.
