Deputy Marcus James Alexander, a 37-year-old officer with over a year of service at the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, has been arrested in connection with a case of sexual abuse involving a child. According to a BCSO news release on Monday, July 24, Alexander was taken into custody on a warrant for Indecency with a Child-Contact, a 2nd-degree felony.

The arrest came after the BCSO received a call regarding a reported case of sexual abuse at a residence in Far West Bexar County on Sunday, July 23. Upon arriving at the scene, authorities discovered evidence implicating Deputy Alexander in an incident that occurred in June, as stated in the news release.

The allegations against Deputy Alexander are deeply troubling, as he stands accused of inappropriately touching and taking photos of a juvenile. The individual who reported the incident confronted Alexander on Saturday, July 22, about the photos allegedly kept on his cell phone. In response, the deputy reportedly became evasive and denied possessing any such images.

Following the confrontation, Deputy Alexander was brought to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division for questioning. After a thorough investigation, authorities gathered sufficient evidence to obtain a warrant for his arrest on charges of indecency with a child. Subsequently, Alexander turned himself in to law enforcement on Monday.

In light of the serious nature of the allegations, the Bexar County Sheriff's Office took immediate action. Prior to the issuance of the arrest warrant, Alexander was placed on unpaid administrative leave. Additionally, he has been served with a proposed termination pending the outcome of the investigation, according to the news release.

Sheriff Javier Salazar, expressing his concern for the young victim and her family, stated in the release that the allegations are "beyond infuriating." He reassured the public that both criminal and administrative penalties against the deputy would be severe and swift. Sheriff Salazar commended the Childsafe Investigators and Public Integrity Unit for their rapid response and swift action in taking the suspect into custody.
