Traffic Stop Leads to Major Cocaine Seizure on IH 10 in Guadalupe County

GUADALUPE COUNTY, Texas — On Thursday, September 25, 2025, at about 6:30 p.m., a Guadalupe County Sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop on a 2013 Dodge pickup traveling east on IH 10 near mile marker 617.

During the stop, deputies developed signs of possible criminal activity and conducted a lawful search of the vehicle. That search led to the discovery of approximately six kilograms of cocaine.

The driver, Brandon Lee Garcia of Laredo, and passenger, Lorenzo Garza of Somerset, were both arrested and charged with Manufacturing/Delivery of Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, ≥ 400 grams. They were booked into the Guadalupe County Adult Detention Center.

Sheriff Joshua Ray said the seizure is part of a broader effort by the agency. “The data thus far has clearly indicated that our efforts of proactive versus reactive enforcement are tremendously improving safety for Guadalupe County citizens,” he said.

According to GCSO, 2025 has already seen significant increases in narcotics and currency seizures, along with measurable improvements in nearly every enforcement category.
