Shooting at San Antonio Northeast Side Motel Leaves Man Dead

A 31-year-old man lost his life early Friday morning during a fatal shooting that occurred outside a motel on the Northeast Side, according to San Antonio police reports.

The incident took place around 3:30 a.m. at the WoodSpring Suites San Antonio motel, located in the 6900 block of Interstate 35.

As per the initial police investigation, the victim and his girlfriend were visiting a friend and were walking in the motel's parking lot when an unknown man dressed in black approached them and began causing trouble. The situation escalated when the assailant attempted to grab the woman, prompting the victim to intervene and protect his girlfriend.

An altercation between the victim and the assailant ensued, leading to a physical fight that resulted in both individuals grappling on the ground. During this altercation, the troublemaker pulled out a firearm and fired a fatal shot at the victim.

Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene in a black-colored vehicle, and his current whereabouts remain unknown. Authorities have not yet identified or apprehended the shooter.

Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene after the incident was reported. The San Antonio Police Department, along with the San Antonio Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services (EMS), promptly responded to provide medical attention to the victim. However, despite their efforts, the 31-year-old man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

As of now, the identity of the deceased has not been released, as the authorities are likely in the process of notifying the victim's next of kin.
