KILLEEN, TX – Thomas James Naylor, 41, of Stonewall (Gillespie County), Texas, has been sentenced to 40 years of imprisonment after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting and impregnating a Killeen girl who was 12 years old.
Naylor pleaded guilty to a first-degree felony charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child and a second-degree felony charge of indecency with a child by sexual contact on Wednesday, July 23, in the 426th Judicial District Court. Judge Steve Duskie followed a plea agreement, sentencing Naylor to concurrent prison terms of 40 and 20 years. Naylor is currently being held in the Bell County Jail without bond.
Killeen police began investigating Naylor in 2019, but it took years to solidify the case. The investigation began on December 26, 2019, when a 12-year-old girl was brought to the emergency room at Advent Hospital in Killeen and was discovered to be pregnant. She reported being sexually assaulted but initially could not identify the perpetrator.
The case gained significant traction on August 6, 2021, when another girl, related to the first victim, made an outcry to the Copperas Cove Police Department. The 13-year-old told police that Naylor had molested her three years prior when she lived in Killeen. She also stated she had witnessed Naylor sexually assault the first victim a few months before the pregnancy was discovered.
During a forensic interview, the first victim then disclosed that Naylor was her assailant, a fact later confirmed through genetic testing by police.
Naylor was indicted by a Bell County grand jury on September 27, 2023, and had been booked into the county jail on July 24, 2023.
