Theft Investigation at Area 51 Food Park Leads to Recovery of Stolen Property and Narcotics Arrest

Deputies with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary at a food truck located in the Area 51 Food Park in the 12000 block of Potranco Road in San Antonio. The victim reported that unknown suspects forcibly entered the food truck and stole a cash register and equipment.

Deputies launched an investigation after similar stolen items appeared for sale online. On July 10, 2025, the suspect agreed to meet at a gas station on Potranco Road to complete the sale. Upon arrival, deputies identified the seller as James McClelland, who was found in possession of the stolen cash register and paging system.

McClelland was detained without incident. A search of his backpack uncovered the stolen property along with suspected methamphetamine and marijuana.

Further investigation revealed McClelland had arrived in a stolen U-Haul truck driven by a second individual, Jeffrey Schauble, who was also detained. Deputies recovered additional suspected stolen items, including damaged coin-operated machines, from the U-Haul’s cargo area.

McClelland was arrested and booked on narcotics charges. Schauble was taken into custody on an outstanding felony warrant from Comal County and booked into the BCSO South Tower.
