San Antonio Man Hospitalized After Stabbing Incident Sparked by Cigarette Request

A man is currently in recovery at a local hospital following a late-night altercation that escalated into a violent stabbing at a QuikTrip gas station. The incident took place on Thursday night around 11:30 p.m., and police were quick to respond to reports of a fight between two men at the gas station located on the 300-block of San Pedro Avenue.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered one man with stab wounds and another male detained by a security guard who was on duty at the gas station. The victim's injuries, though serious, were determined to be non-life-threatening. As a precautionary measure, he was immediately transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

As per the preliminary investigation conducted by the police, it was revealed that the altercation was ignited when the suspect approached the victim and requested a cigarette. However, the man informed the suspect that he did not possess any cigarettes, which appeared to agitate the other male.

According to authorities, this simple exchange quickly spiraled into a heated argument, and before long, a physical altercation erupted between the two individuals. During the altercation, the suspect brandished a deadly weapon and used it to cut the victim, resulting in the stabbing.

Witnesses at the scene reported the security guard's swift intervention, leading to the apprehension of the suspect. Police promptly took him into custody on charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
