Last week, the Uvalde Police Department executed a series of unannounced gang compliance checks on twenty-one classified gang members residing within the City of Uvalde and Uvalde County. Coordinating efforts with local and federal law enforcement agencies, the checks aimed to ensure the compliance of criminal offenders under the supervision of Uvalde County Probation.

The operation yielded significant results, as officers discovered multiple violations among the targeted offenders. Out of the twenty-one individuals, nine were found to be in violation of their probation conditions, and three were arrested on active warrants.

Additionally, the compliance checks led to the issuance of a citation for drug paraphernalia possession and the arrest of two individuals for possession of a controlled substance. These measures reflect the authorities' commitment to keeping the community safe and preventing further criminal activity.

However, the most alarming discovery during the checks was the arrest of a juvenile on serious charges. The young individual was apprehended for theft of a firearm, possession of a Glock switch (federally classified as a machine gun), and possession of marijuana. As a result of a search warrant, three other firearms were seized, preventing potential harm and danger to the community.

The success of these compliance checks was attributed to the seamless collaboration between the Uvalde Police Department and various assisting agencies. Recognizing the significance of teamwork, the Uvalde Adult Probation Office, Texas Department of Public Safety - Criminal Investigations Division (CID), 38th Judicial District Attorney's Office, Uvalde County Constables (Pct 1 & 6), Uvalde County Sheriff's Office, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) were all instrumental in the operation's success.

In a statement, the Uvalde Adult Probation Office expressed their gratitude to all the assisting agencies, emphasizing that the joint efforts played a pivotal role in maximizing the effectiveness of the compliance checks. Their dedication to ensuring the safety and security of Uvalde's residents demonstrates the commitment of law enforcement agencies to uphold the rule of law and protect the community from criminal threats.
