Center Point Fire Station Severely Damaged in Flood; Crews Continue Search and Rescue Operations

The Center Point Volunteer Fire Department (CPVFD) has been conducting nonstop search, rescue, and recovery operations since 3:00 a.m. on July 4, when devastating floodwaters first struck Kerr County.

While firefighters were responding to swift water rescues and evacuation calls, floodwaters surged into the CPVFD station, destroying 99% of the department’s equipment. Despite the significant damage, all fire vehicles were already in use and were not lost in the flood, allowing emergency response operations to remain fully active.

CPVFD continues to assist in missions alongside local and state agencies. With the support of civilian volunteers, the fire station is being cleaned and restored to basic functionality, enabling firefighters to remain focused on critical rescue efforts.

Although the department suffered heavy losses, CPVFD remains operational and is responding to every call.

Search and recovery operations are ongoing throughout Kerr County following the severe flooding.
