Suspect in Threat Against Jewish Facility Arrested in San Antonio

A suspect accused of making threats to carry out a mass shooting at a Jewish facility in San Antonio is now in custody, according to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).

On Thursday, June 19, SAPD was alerted by the San Antonio FBI Office about threats made against Barshop Jewish Community Center in San Antonio. In response, officers immediately increased patrols and security presence at Jewish locations across the city as a precautionary measure.

SAPD Chief William McManus confirmed that the suspect was arrested based on statements made during questioning by authorities.

“We appreciate the community’s vigilance and continued cooperation,” Chief McManus stated.

City officials said the arrest significantly reduces any ongoing threat, but SAPD will continue to monitor the situation and maintain communication with local Jewish organizations.

“I appreciate Chief McManus and SAPD working to quickly mitigate any potential increased risks to our Jewish community,” said Mayor Jones. “Anti-Semitism has no place in San Antonio, and we’ll take all necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of our Jewish neighbors.”
