Authorities are investigating after a body was discovered in the water at Rockport Harbor early Thursday afternoon.

On June 19, 2025, at approximately 1:01 p.m., the Rockport Police Department received a report of a body floating in the harbor. Officers responded to the scene along with Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens, Allegiance EMS, and the Rockport Volunteer Fire Department.

First responders successfully recovered the body from the water. According to initial findings, the deceased had reportedly been fishing from a pier in the harbor prior to the incident. The person’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

It is currently unknown how the individual entered the water. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage, conducting witness interviews, and canvassing the area to determine the events leading up to the discovery.

The cause of death is pending the results of a medical examination. The investigation remains ongoing.
